Court Issues Arrest Warrant for MP Mohammed Ali After Terror Suspect Jumps Bail

John Wanjohi Nov 02, 2021

A Kwale court has issued a warrant of arrest against Nyali MP Mohammed Ali, alias Moha Jichopevu.

This comes after the first-time MP failed to appear in court on October 4th, 2021 in a case in which he stood as a surety for a terror suspect.

He was required to present himself in court after the terror suspect named Nordin Hassan Abdalla, alias Kamanda, jumped bail.

Abdalla, who was charged with being in possession of radicalization articles, pleaded not guilty and was released on bail, with MP Ali offering to stand as a surety for the accused.

The suspect was arrested in 2019 at Shimoni area in Kwale for allegedly conducting recruitment and radicalization of local youth into the Islamic State.

Abdalla is suspected to be an associate of Salim Rashid Mohamed ‘Chotara’, an Islamic State operative who was filmed conducting a beheading in the Democratic Republic of Congo in June 2021.
