LSK President Nelson Havi Joins Ruto's UDA Party, to Run for Westlands Parliamentary Seat
Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has ditched Amani National Congress (ANC) for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Havi officially joined UDA following a meeting with Deputy President William Ruto at his Karen residence on Monday.
Also present during the meeting were MPs Aden Duale (Garissa Township), Kimani Ichungwah (Kikuyu), Rigathi Gachagwa (Mathura), and Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago.
Havi, who has been serving as LSK president since February last year, is eying the Westlands parliamentary seat in the 2022 general election.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Citizen on Monday, Havi said he is joining politics to serve Kenyans and not to accumulate wealth.
βI am not going to Parliament because I am looking for money. I am not going to hide money I have stolen before. I have no flaws. I am capable of serving,β he said.
The attorney promised to improve the lives of poor people living in the Westlands constituency if he wins the seat next year.
βIn Westlands, there is unemployment, there are no roads, hospitals, schools, especially in the poor neighborhoods. I saw the situation in Kibagare recently and wept a lot.β
