Ruto’s Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi Discharged from the Hospital
Deputy President William Ruto’s digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has been discharged from hospital.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Director of Communications Wanjohi Githae said Itumbi was discharged from Nairobi West Hospital on Saturday morning.
“Happy New Year folks…I am pleased to inform you that Dennis Itumbi has been discharged from hospital. We can only be thankful to God,” Githae announced through Facebook.
The blogger was hospitalized following an assault during an alleged abduction incident on December 23rd. Itumbi was allegedly picked up by unknown men outside a barbershop along Kiambu Road where had gone for a shave.
The suspected kidnappers are said to have approached him as he left the barbershop and forced him into a silver Toyota Allion before driving off towards Nairobi. He was later dumped in Kasarani area, where Good Samaritans took him to Neema Uhai Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi West Hospital.
Itumbi says he was subjected to unspeakable brutality, horrendous physical harm, and indescribable psychological torture. Ruto, who visited Itumbi in hospital on Tuesday, claimed the abductors wanted to kill his spirit. The deputy president said Itumbi would be confined to bed for at least a month.
“Spent time with Comrade DI last evening, saw his heavily bandaged arm and legs, the result of torture by people who should have been there to protect him and us all. They have now turned violent & fatalistic after all the negative narratives, threats, and blackmail against us failed,” Ruto wrote on Twitter.
