Foreign Affairs CAS Ababu Namwamba Endorses Ruto’s Presidential Bid

Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba has declared his support for Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid.

Namwamba threw his weight behind Ruto during the deputy president’s visit to Busia on Wednesday to sell his bottom-up economic agenda.

The former Budalangi MP says Ruto is the most suitable candidate to succeed President Kenyatta, citing his past and present track record.

“We have been supporting ODM for many years but ended up with the wrong leaders. That is why Busia has lagged behind in terms of development. It is now high time for us to switch our loyalty to Ruto and the UDA Party," Namwamba declared.

He added: “Huyu jamaa [Ruto] amefanya mambo na anaposema atabadalisha Kenya ni ukweli atabadilisha Kenya. Sisi watu wa Busia hatutaenda tena kwenye safari ambazo hazina sababu, tutatembea na hustler.”

On his part, Ruto appealed to Busia residents to rally behind the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and urged them to reject ODM leader Raila Odinga, who he described as a State project.
 
“Si tunataka rais mwenye atatufanyia kazi? Sasa hawa watu nataka niwaambie we will not accept ati tutengenezewe rais,” said Ruto.
