Starehe MP Charles 'Jaguar' Decamps to Ruto’s UDA Party

Starehe MP Charles Kanyi Njagua, alias Jaguar, has ditched the ruling Jubilee Party ahead of the August 9th elections.

Jaguar, a musician-turned-politician, officially decamped to Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on Monday.

"Welcome to the Hustler Nation Hon Charles Njagua AKA Jaguar, MP Starehe Constituency," the UDA party wrote on Twitter.

The first-time MP was received to the ‘hustler nation’ by Ruto and other UDA-allied MPs at the deputy president’s Karen residence.

“Starehe MP Charles Njagua alias Jaguar joins the United Democratic Alliance. The Hustler Nation continues to grow,” Ruto said in a tweet.

Jaguar will fight for a UDA ticket with East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Simon Mbugua, who is also eyeing the Starehe parliamentary seat in the forthcoming elections.

He won the seat in the 2017 elections after garnering 52,132 votes ahead of ODM candidate Steve Mbogo (32,357) and prominent activist Boniface Mwangi (13,413).

Jaguar holds a bachelor’s degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from Mount Kenya University.
