NARK-Kenya Leader Martha Karua Formally Joins One Kenya Alliance
Martha Karua-led NARC-Kenya party has formally joined the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) ahead of the August 9th general elections.
The signing of a coalition pact between OKA and NARC-Kenya comes a week after Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC party and FORD-Kenya of Moses Wetang’ula exited OKA and joined forces with Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA party.
The new OKA alliance brings together Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper, Kanu’s Gideon Moi, Cyrus Jirongo (UDP), and Martha Karua (NARC-Kenya).
In a joint statement, the leaders said the agreement will be officially filed with the Registrar of Political Parties on February 28th, adding that the coalition is ready to partner with other like-minded parties.
“As of today, 10 other political parties have expressed interest in joining the coalition. This is because we believe that the diversity of our nation calls for heterogeneity of minds and ideas to effect impactful change. However, those not aligned with these values are likely to eventually fall by the wayside,” the leaders said on Wednesday.
Musyoka, Moi, Jirong,o and Karua are scheduled to hold a series of public engagement activities across the country following the signing of the pact.
Addressing the press following the signing of the agreement, Karua said OKA will unveil its presidential candidate in one and half months. “We will shock the country after we name our presidential candidate. The next president will come from OKA,” said Karua.
