Embattled Former Youth PS Lilian Omollo Announces Entry into Politics
Embattled former Youth Principal Secretary (PS) Lilian Omollo has announced her entry into politics.
Omollo, who is fighting graft-related charges in the Sh9 billion National Youth Service (NYS) scandal alongside 34 others, said she will contest for the Embu senatorial seat in the August 9th elections.
She declared her bid for the position during a meeting with her grassroots supporters at her rural home in Rukira village in Manyatta, Embu county.
The former principal secretary has maintained a low profile since she was implicated in the scandal in 2018 and has put up a spirited fight to clear her name.
Omollo says she is still in consultation with her supporters and will name the political party of choice in a week’s time.
Citing her over 20 years of experience in the public service and private sector, Omollo pointed out that she will inject fresh energy and progressive leadership in Embu.
“I have a lot of experience, knowledge on issues of public service and financial management and I do not think there is any aspirant in Embu who fits that bill,” Ms. Omollo said as quoted by KBC.
“I think it’s time I use what is in my head to help my people by ensuring the County gets its rightful share of funds from the National Government.”
The Embu senator seat, which is currently held by Njeru Ndwiga, has attracted eight other candidates.
