Gilgil MP Martha Wangari Ditches Jubilee for Ruto's UDA Party
Gilgil Member of Parliament Martha Wangari has ditched the ruling Jubilee Party ahead of the August 9th elections.
Through Facebook on Thursday, the first-time MP announced she has joined Deputy President William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Wangari says she will seek to defend her parliamentary seat on a UDA party ticket in the forthcoming elections.
“I have diligently served my people and avoided politics for the last 4 years. God has been good to me,” Wangari wrote.
“I shall do seek to fly the UDA party ticket in Gilgil. So, help me God. Thanks H.E The Deputy President for receiving and welcoming me.”
Ruto welcomed MP Wangari to the UDA party, saying the ‘hustler nation’ keeps growing.
Before her election as the MP for Gilgil in 2017, Wangari served as a nominated senator from 2013.
