Businessman to Sue Senator Wetang’ula over Sh218,000 Debt for Dogs
A businessman has threatened to sue Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula over failure to complete the payment for dogs supplied to him last year.
James Isokat, who rears dogs for sale, claims the Ford-Kenya party leader owes his Sh218,000 after supplying him two male microchipped German shepherd dogs in June last year for Sh318,000.
The man says Wetang’ula paid Sh100,000 when he delivered the dogs at his home in Karen and promised to clear the balance of Sh218,000 the following day, but the politician has been taking him in circles since then.
“He has been taking me around with numerous threats from his security guards,” said Isokat.
Through his lawyer Adhiambo Omondi, Isokat served Wetang’ula with a demand letter on Tuesday, giving him 14 days to clear the debt failure to which he will move to court to seek redress.
When contacted for comment on the matter, Wetang’ula admitted to being in possession of the highbred dogs, adding that he was willing to return them if the complainant refunded his Sh100,000 down payment.
“I have told that gentleman to bring back my deposit of Sh100,000 and collect his grossly overpriced dogs. Tell him to deliver the payment to my home manager and take his dogs. I will not charge him for feeding and caring for them for the period they have been in my custody,” Wetang’ula was quoted as saying last year.
