Singer Ali Kiba’s Kenyan Wife Files for Divorce, Seeks Sh200,000 Monthly Upkeep

Amina Khalef, the Kenyan wife of celebrated Tanzanian singer Ali Kiba has filed for divorce at the Kadhi’s court in Mombasa.

The Standard reports that Amina is demanding monthly upkeep of Sh200,000 plus medical cover for her and her two children.

In documents filed in court, she accuses the Bongo Flavor superstar of adultery and failure to consistently provide for her needs and those of their kids.

“The respondent (Kiba) has made a mockery of their marriage by disrespectfully engaging in public displays of infidelity with various women in total disregard of the petitioner’s feelings,” court documents read.

Amina argues that her efforts to solve their differences have been futile as Kiba has been unresponsive, hence arriving at the conclusion that their marriage is broken beyond repair.

“The marriage is irreversibly severely broken with no chance of being salvaged,” she adds.

Kiba, 33, and Amina, 26, tied the knot in a traditional wedding ceremony held in Mombasa in April 2018 before heading to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where they held a white wedding a few days later.

In an interview in 2019, Kiba confirmed rumors that Amina had returned to her parent’s home in Mombasa following disagreements.

"It is true that my wife and I have issues, which is normal for any couple. I returned her to her parent's home. I wanted her to also go back to work, I then traveled to Europe," Kiba said.

He added: "She had previously told me she wanted to work because she is very educated. When I returned from Europe, she told me she was good and now I can go visit her at any time. I haven't divorced her yet, but everyone is doing their own thing now. Divorce is not something to be praised or announced to people."
