Nairobi MCA Mellab Lumalah Dies in India
The Nairobi County Assembly is mourning the death of nominated MCA Mellab Atemah Lumalah.
Lumalah, who was the deputy minority leader in the assembly, passed away on Monday in India where she was undergoing treatment.
Reports indicate that the deceased has been receiving treatment for cancer since last year.
Confirming the news, Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Benson Mutura termed Lumalah’s death as a great loss to the assembly and the county at large.
“Mellab was part of the house leadership and carried out her duties effectively,” said Mutura.
Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris in a message of condolence said the deceased was “loyal, passionate, and dedicated to service.”
“Saddened to learn that Nominated MCA Hon Mellab Lumalah has passed. She was loyal, passionate and dedicated to service. My condolences to her dear husband Afwayi and their son,” Passaris said.
Lumalah was nominated to the county assembly by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
