Tutashinda Hao Wakora, Uhuru Says as He Unveils Azimio-One Kenya Alliance
President Kenyatta says the new Azimio-One Kenya Alliance coalition will field a joint presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections.
Kenyatta made the announcement during the Jubilee Party National Delegates Convention (NDC) held at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Saturday.
The president exuded confidence that the mega coalition will win the August 9th election and form the next government.
ODM leader Raila Odinga, and One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (KANU), and Cyrus Jirongo were among leaders who attended the meeting.
“We are unveiling Azimio-One Kenya Alliance and we will defeat them. Do you support me to work with these elders to fight those wakora?” Kenyatta posed.
Kenyatta also told off Deputy President William Ruto for questioning his decision to work with opposition leaders led by Raila.
"I heard one person saying that there is nowhere in the world where a government unites with and supports the opposition. I want to tell them that Kenya will be the example, we are mature enough to distinguish between politics and the needs of the people,” said Uhuru.
The Azimio-One Kenya Alliance coalition is expected to face Kenya Kwanza Alliance that brings together Ruto, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula.
