My Political Relationship with Raila is Over, Jimi Wanjigi Says After Being Forcibly Ejected from ODM Meeting
Businessman Jimi Wanjigi says his political relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga is over.
This comes after Wanjigi, who is eyeing the presidency, was forcibly ejected from the ODM National Delegates Convention (NDC) at Kasarani indoor arena and roughed up by a group of rowdy youth.
The tycoon, who had previously declared his intention to square it out with Odinga for the ODM presidential ticket, announced he has officially severed all ties with Odinga and the Orange party.
“We were welcomed until we got into the VIP section. Secretary-General Sifuna organized goons…But I forgive them for they don't know what they are doing,” said Wanjigi.
“I hold Raila responsible…Raila Odinga, I thank you for the kicks and blows that I have received…Two families have decided there is no space for anyone to vie.”
Wanjigi urged his supporters to reject Odinga’s presidential candidature and warned aspirants eyeing the ODM ticket to join other parties, citing a lack of democracy within ODM.
He further termed Odinga a State project, claiming that President Kenyatta wants to use the ODM leader to extend his stay in power.
“I have given my life to Raila, I ask you to reject him. This is not the Raila Odinga I knew. This Raila Odinga is intoxicated by power…My relationship with him in the political arena is over…I have been shown the door, Asante ya punda ni mateke,” he lamented.
“Uhuru Kenyatta wants to continue in power through Raila Odinga…This is not about Raila but Uhuru who wants to extend his term.”
