KDF Soldier Arrested After Defiling a 12-Year-Old Minor in Eldoret
A Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier has been arrested for defiling a 12-year-old girl in Langas, Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
KDF Private Elly Kipkoech, based at 9KA Second Brigade, was arrested from his hideout on Sunday afternoon after sexually assaulting the Class Seven pupil the previous day, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The minor arrived home late at around 7:30 pm on Saturday and informed her worried mother that she had been held hostage by a man, who took advantage of her.
Upon further interrogation, the mother noticed blood stains on her daughter’s undergarments and pleaded with her to reveal the identity of the perpetrator.
The mother reported the matter to Eldoret-based detectives, who employed digital and cyber forensics to trace the suspect, who was hiding at Green Park estate within the town.
“Private Elly Kipkoech is currently being processed for arraignment in accordance to military parlance, after being positively identified by the victim,” DCI says in a report.
The minor and the suspect have since undergone medical tests at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ Anti Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit remains on high alert following an increase in sexual offenses and commits to bringing every perpetrator of the vice to book, regardless of the positions they hold in society,” DCI added.
