Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua has thrown her support behind Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Karua announced the move on Wednesday following a meeting with Odinga at Serena Hotel, Nairobi, where she signed an agreement to join the Azimio coalition.

Addressing reporters at the hotel, Karua said she decided to back Odinga’s State House bid after what she termed as “careful consideration.”

“From now onwards, I am supporting comrade Raila Odinga and Azimio La Umoja. From now on, I am committed to popularizing the Azimio La Umoja and Raila Odinga,” she said.

“Without integrity in leadership, all promises will amount to nothing. I have chosen to be with Raila without struggle. We've been in the trenches together and from today we shall be going out to popularize the Azimio La Umoja coalition and his 10-point agenda.”

While welcoming Karua to Azimio, Odinga said the two agreed that it was time to come together again and work for the interest of the people of Kenya.

“I am welcoming my comrade Martha Karua to Azimio, this is the winning team. We had a one-on-one conversation with my sister and comrade Martha …and during that time we went down the memory lane, there are not many people I can have such a conversation with,” said Odinga.

He added: ““Martha Karua has stood firm and paid a huge price for the second liberation of Kenya. We gone through hills and valleys together and we had now agreed there is still a lot to be done. she is a general and wears scars of struggle.”

Odinga, who is running for the presidency for the fifth time, enjoys the support of President Kenyatta whose tenure expires after the August 9th elections.
