God Will Punish You, Wetang'ula Tells Raila for Denying Brother a Ticket for Nairobi Governor

Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula has blasted ODM leader Raila Odinga for denying his brother Tim Wanyonyi the chance to vie for the Nairobi governor seat.

Odinga prevailed upon Wanyonyi, who is the MP for Westlands, to shelve his city governor’s bid and instead defend his seat in the upcoming elections.

Wanyonyi stepped down in favor of former Nairobi deputy governor Polycarp Igathe, who will fly the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition’s flag in the Nairobi governorship race.

Wetang’ula accused Odinga of unfairly denying his brother Wanyonyi a ticket to contest for the seat despite being the most popular candidate.

He described the move as wicked, saying the ODM leader could not even consider that Wanyonyi is a person with a disability (PWD).

“God will punish you as those you hurt watch…the most popular candidate for the Nairobi governor’s post was Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi. But he has snatched the opportunity from him and given it to someone else, yet Tim is a person living with disability,” Wetang’ula lamented.

“If he can do that to a PWD, how much more can he do to a normally abled person? It is a very wicked act, and God will punish you. The Mulembe community will not forgive you.”

Wetang’ula, who is the senator for Bungoma, spoke on Tuesday during the issuance of nomination certificates to Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka and Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, who are eyeing the Bungoma and Trans Nzoia governor seats respectively.
