Kenyan Woman Stuck in India Pleads for Help to Return Home
A Kenyan woman who is presently stranded in India is appealing for help to return home after her passport was allegedly confiscated by her compatriot.
In a video shared on social media, Anne Wanjiku Kariuki says a Kenyan woman identified as Rosemary Wairimu invited and facilitated her travel to India with a promise of securing her a job.
When she arrived in the populous Asian nation, Wanjiku claims she discovered that Wairimu operates a brothel and tried to force her to sell her body in order to recoup the Sh100,000 she spent to bring her to India.
Wanjiku says the woman, who did not disclose the nature of the job she does in India, took away her passport after she refused to become a sex worker in her brothel and is demanding a refund of the money she spent on her to return it.
She is unable to raise the money and her attempts to get help from the Kenyan High Commission in India were in vain as officials insisted she must have a passport.
“…the embassy officials contacted Wairimu and pleaded with her to return my passport but she declined and switched off her phone,” Wanjiku cries out in the viral video.
“She promised to return the passport today but when I went to pick it her phone was switched off.”
Wanjiku pleaded with anyone who can help her to travel back to Kenya without a passport to come to her rescue.
“I beg, do not let me continue suffering here in India. My children are also suffering back in Kenya because of this woman. She has subjected me to misery…please help me,” Wanjiku begs while crying uncontrollably.
