Singer Akothee Breaks Up with Boyfriend Nelly Oaks

Singer Esther Akoth, better known as Akothee, has broken up with her boyfriend Nelly Oaks.

Akothee confirmed she parted ways with Nelly through her social media pages on Wednesday, saying that she has chosen to focus on her career and new-found happiness

“I have walked out of other relationships with different ups & downs so this last one shouldn't be a shock or a surprise. It's just a personal decision, I need time to concentrate on my new Found happiness with less destruction, I need to work on myself and my career,” she wrote.

“I am not ready for any commitment, questions or answers to what transpired just didn't want to hurt anyone but sorry it is what it is.”

The 39-year-old mother of five noted that she shares a family relationship with Nelly, and wishes to keep the family respect.

“Courage is fear holding on a moment longer,” the ‘Oyoyo’ hitmaker added.

Speculation about their break-up spread online this week after the two unfollowed each other on social media and deleted photos of each other from their timelines.

Akothee and Nelly, who was once her manager, went public about their relationship last year.
