Ruto is Unfit to be Kenya’s President, Martha Karua Says
Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential running mate Martha Karua says Deputy President William Ruto is unfit to be president, citing his public spat with President Kenyatta.
Karua, who was addressing a series of campaign rallies in Narok and Nakuru counties on Monday, described Ruto as a disrespectful leader and urged Kenyans to reject him at the ballot.
“You’re not fit to be President. You’ve failed as a Deputy President …kama unaweza slap Rais wa nchi, je mtu wa kawaida utamfanyia nini? Hatutaki kijana wa hasira…tunataka Mzee Baba Raila …Wewe Deputy imekushinda, Rais utaweza? Wale wako na hasira watasubiri hadi hasira yao ipungue ndiyo wawe President,” said Karua on Monday.
He added: “Hata deputy headmaster huwa chini ya headmaster… vile mimi niko chini ya Raila… nchi haiwezi ongozwa na fujo baina ya rais na naibu wake.”
While urging Kenyans to reject individuals with questionable characters, Karua listed uniting the country and fighting corruption as the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition’s main agenda.
“Mwizi wa mali ya uma akija na mali ya uma, wewe unamuonyesha meno unamfurahia… kujipenda ni kuhakikisha kwamba unalinda mali yetu,” said Karua.
Karua pledged that the Azimio administration will reduce the high cost of living in the first 100 days if they win the forthcoming elections.
Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, who accompanied Karua on the campaign trail, said: "We don't want a vengeful government. We want a government that brings all people together...and that government is Azimio.”
