Kenyan-Born French Athlete Gets an 18-Month Ban for Doping

Kenyan-born French athlete Susan Kipsang-Jeptooo has been handed an 18-month suspension after she tested positive for a banned substance, the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD) announced on Monday.

AFP reported that Susan tested positive for stimulant heptaminol after winning the French 10-kilometer title in September last year.

The 35-year-old long-distance runner acquired French nationality in 2019 and represented the European nation in the marathon at Tokyo Olympics last year.

Susan, her husband, and former coach were last year questioned by authorities in France over alleged possession and procurement of illicit substances as well as possession and procurement of false administrative documents.

Following the ban, Susan will not be allowed to participate in any athletics competition until December 8th, 2023.
