President Uhuru Makes Several Appointments to State Boards Ahead of His Retirement

President Kenyatta has made several appointments to State boards ahead of his retirement after the August 9th general election.

Through a gazette notice published on August 5th, the president appointed Dr. Cecilia Mbinya Mutuku and John Ogallo to be members of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) board for a period of six years.

Linus Gitahi was named the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Rivatex East Africa Limited for a three-year term, Amb. Dennis Awori was appointed as a member of the State Corporations Advisory Committee for three years while Dr. Donald Apollo Kokonya will be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Board of Mental Health for a period of three years.

Uhuru also appointed John Waithaka as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (3 years), Dr. Nabila Khanbhai as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority (3 years), Robert Mwangi Kariuki as the chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board (3 years), Geoffrey Gitu Mbirua as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the National Aids Control Council (3 years), Gerald Macharia as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya National Public Health Institute (3 years), and Jas Bedi as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency Board (3 years).

Capt. Paul Rukaria has been picked as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Trading Corporation (3 years), Col. (Rtd.) Noor Musa as Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Fisheries Service (3 years), Phyllis Wakiaga as Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board (3 years), Charles Mugo Chiuri as Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (3 years), and Winfrida Ngumi as the Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya National Highways Authority (3 years).

Other appointments include Simon Gicharu (Chairperson of the Water Services Regulatory Board for 3 years), Omar Jibril Mohamed (Chairperson of the Kenya National Library Services Board for 2 years), Fatma Naaman Muses (Chairperson of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre for 3 years), Christine Anyango Agimba (Chairperson of the Kenya Law Reform Commission for 6 years), and Lucas Kyonze Tumbo (Rtd.) Maj. Gen. (Chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans for 4 years).
