Ruto to Uhuru: My Government will Protect You When You Leave Office
President-elect William Ruto has assured President Kenyatta that his administration will protect and accord him the respect he deserves once leaves office.
Ruto noted that even though the president did not support his presidential bid, he harbors no grudge against him and will make sure he retires peacefully.
“We thank Uhuru for his contribution in steering the country to where it is. I want to assure him that he will have his respect and his place as our leader who will retire,” Ruto said.
The president-elect spoke during a thanksgiving service at PCEA Church in Githunguri, Kiambu County on Sunday where he thanked area residents for voting for him as opposed to Kenyatta’s preferred successor Raila Odinga.
“I appreciate that people of Mt Kenya have taken me as one of their sons. They have stood by me through thick and thin and buried ethnicity in the politics of Kenya. I am assuring you that I will not let you down,” he added.
At the same time, Ruto pledged to build on President Kenyatta’s legacy projects by completing unfinished ones, including the Big Four Agenda on food security, universal healthcare, manufacturing, and affordable housing.
“What we did together, we will build on that foundation and take our country forward. That which he didn’t complete we will complete including stalled projects which include roads, electricity and water,” Ruto said.
