Raila Wants the Supreme Court to Declare Him President-Elect

John Wanjohi Aug 24, 2022

Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga has expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will declare him president-elect.

Speaking on Wednesday in Mombasa where he drummed up support for ODM gubernatorial candidate Abdulswamad Nassir, Odinga noted that a repeat presidential election may not be held as the apex court will find that he won the August 9th election.

Odinga, who has filed a petition challenging the results of the presidential election, pointed out that his legal team will expose massive electoral malpractices and how the election was rigged in favor of president-elect William Ruto.

At the same time, Odinga hit out at IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati, claiming that he pocketed a huge bribe in order to announce skewed results.

He further demanded that Chebukati recuses himself from the eight elections slated for Monday and allow IEBC Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera to take charge.

"Chebukati should disqualify himself from the elections ili haki iweze kutendeka hapa, ajiondoe kwenye hii uchaguzi inayoendelea, aawachie wale hawana mapendeleo.
