Drama at JKIA as Woman Rescued from Saudi Arabia Attacks Her Agent for 'Selling' Her

Drama ensued at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday after a Kenyan woman who was rescued from Saudi Arabia attacked her agent.

Nelly Chelagat had just landed from the Gulf state when she spotted her agent at the airport and aggressively confronted her, accusing her of ‘selling’ her in Saudi Arabia.

“Why are you here after you sold me in Saudi Arabia, did you want me to die?” Chelagat is heard yelling in a video shared on social media.

Chelagat roughed up the woman before she was quickly restrained by those around her, with police officers intervening to calm her down.

In the video, she thanked Kenyans who shared her woes on social media, leading to her rescue from Saudi Arabia where she says she was subjected to ill-treatment, including being denied food by her employer.

“I had called the embassy several times but no action was taken until Kenyans persuaded them to take action,” she said.

The agent had reportedly gone to the airport in the company of a representative from the Association of Skilled Migrant Agencies of Kenya (ASMAK) to receive Chelagat and stand with her family.

“I went to Saudi Arabia and came back, this was one of the cases I was handling. As a representative of ASMAK alongside the agent that took Nelly to Saudi Arabia, we are here to stand with the family,” the ASMAK official said.
