Retire and Move on, Miguna Tells CS Balala for Seeking a Job in Ruto’s Gov’t

Kenyan-Canadian attorney Miguna Miguna has told off Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala for wanting to be part of President-elect William Ruto's government.

While releasing Kenya's half-year Tourism Sector Performance Report on Friday, Balala indicated that he was ready to take up any position handed to him by the incoming administration.

“I am happy and humbled and I thank President Kenyatta for giving me the chance to serve the nation. I welcome President Ruto and I am ready to serve in his government whenever it’s necessary,” said Balala, who has been a Cabinet minister since 2003.

But Miguna, who was deported to Canada in 2018, said Balala has been at the helm of the Tourism Ministry for 15 years and should retire or find something else to do.

"To my friend Najib Balala, you are NOT the only Kenyan who was born to serve as cabinet secretary for tourism. You have held that position for more than 15 years. That's enough. Move on. Retire. Find something else to do. There are 35 million unemployed Kenyans," Miguna wrote on Twitter.

Miguna went on to share a video where Balala, his Environment counterpart Keriako Tobiko and former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho demeaned and disrespected Ruto.

"My friend Najib Balala, This was just months ago. Your buddy to the right- Keriako Tobiko- called President-elect William Ruto a "mere clerk" while you told him to "go to hell". Joho called Ruto names we cannot repeat. Did you think that we forgot?" posed Miguna.
