Karua Mulls Moving to the East African Court After Supreme Court’s Ruling on Presidential Petition
Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua says she is considering moving to the East Africa Court of Justice to seek further interpretation of the Supreme Court ruling upholding President-elect William Ruto’s victory in the August 9th election.
Karua, who was Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s running mate in the just concluded election, said that while she respects the ruling by the seven-judge bench, she does not agree with it.
Speaking at her Kimunye home in Kirinyaga County on Saturday, Karua stated that a lot of events surrounding the 2022 presidential election do not make sense to her.
Hiyo ndio rule of law na democracy,” said Karua.
“I am actually considering whether to travel on a hot air balloon to the East African Court just to discuss that judgment. Hii si maono ya Azimio, now it’s me as a Kenyan because also I’m entitled, as an individual, so it’s something I’m considering.”
She further indicated that she will be proceeding on a political sabbatical as she waits for the comprehensive judgment of the apex court judges.
“For now, because I have time, I will take a break…and also because korti ilisema baada ya siku 21 wataleta sababu zao za ile maono walitoa…nangojea hizo sababu.
