10 Women Nominated to President Ruto’s Cabinet

President Ruto has named 10 women to his Cabinet, including seven to Cabinet Secretary positions and three to Cabinet-level portfolios.

The 10 are part of the 22-member Cabinet Ruto unveiled at State House on Tuesday, Nairobi. The nominees will be vetted by the National Assembly.

The women Cabinet Secretaries nominees include Kandara MP Alice Wahome (Water and Sanitation), former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa (Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action), and former KenGen CEO Rebecca Miano (EAC, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands).

Others are former Narok Woman Representative Soipan Tuya (Environment), former Trans-Nzoia Woman Representative aspirant Susan Wafula (Health), former Kitui Deputy Governor Peninah Malonza (Tourism), and former Kericho Woman Representative Florence Bore (Labor and Social Protection).

The three women assigned Cabinet-level portfolios are former Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma (National Security Advisor), lawyer Harriet Chiggai (Women Rights Agency Advisor), and former Communications Authority of Kenya acting Director-General Mercy Wanjau (Secretary to the Cabinet).
