Raila's Daughter Winnie Promises a Comeback in 2027 as She Retreats to Her Company

Winnie Odinga, the last-born daughter of opposition leader Raila Odinga has retreated to her communication company after actively taking part in her dad’s presidential campaign.

In an interview with Sunday Nation, Winnie said the company, The Brick House Counsel, will absorb "able staff" from the Azimio presidential secretariat who delivered exceptionally during campaigns. 

"Ordinarily when people see you around your parents and in campaign rallies, they conclude you have nothing to offer other than shouting at rallies and in my case, just following my father. Well I went to school as well and I possess good credentials," she said.

She added: "And after the polls, I have gone back to my communication firm, The Brick House Counsel, where we do social, political and corporate campaigns powered by accurate data. This is also the best place to absorb some of our able staff from the campaign secretariat."

Describing herself as a “child of the struggle”, Winnie said her political fight is not over and promised a comeback in the 2027 general election. 

"Winnie will be supporting Baba [Raila] and his team in whatever they decide to do. I am a child of the struggle. So I am in this struggle for a Kenya, that might be for as long as I can manage…Participating in a political fight comes naturally to me because I was born right into it. So in 2027, Winnie will be in the struggle."

At the same time, she clarified that she is not interested in being a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) as some media reports suggested this week.

"I hear some people have proposed my name for EALA, but I am not interested. And there is also no vacancy in Kibra. My interest is in supporting my father," she added.

Winnie had earlier been forced to delete her Twitter account after a series of trolls and bullying by a section of Kenyans, who accused her of bungling her father’s campaign, hence costing him the election.
