Celebrated rally driver Maxine Wahome is being investigated for the murder of her late boyfriend Asad Khan, who was also a rally driver.

On Thursday, a Nairobi court granted police two weeks to conclude their investigation into Khan’s death.

State prosecutor James Gachoka told Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi that circumstances in the matter have changed following the death of Khan.

“The circumstances in this investigation have changed following the death of Asad last December. Maxine is now being investigated for murder and grievous harm,” Gachoka said in court.

He said police are yet to receive DNA results and other crucial reports from the government chemist.

Khan died on December 18th while receiving treatment at Avenue Hospital after he was allegedly assaulted by his girlfriend at his apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani estate on December 12th.

The rally driver had initially been admitted to the Nairobi Hospital’s High Dependency Unit (HDU) with serious deep cuts on the right ankle.

The incident was reported to Kilimani police station by Asad’s brother Adila Khan after being informed of the incident by the management of the apartment.

Officers from Kilimani police station visited the scene and found that Asad had already been rushed to the hospital while Maxine was still present but appeared disturbed.

“On further examination, one of the window pane glasses was broken as well as two-door window pane glasses were also broken,” read court documents.

“The scene was documented where forensic evidence to wit blood stains and other items were collected and the respondent was escorted to Kilimani Police Station where she was booked for the offense of grievous harm.”

Wahome was arraigned in court and released on a Sh100,000 cash bail pending investigations into the incident.
