Raila to Name Brands Kenyans Should Boycott as Countrywide Mass Action Kicks Off

John Wanjohi Mar 10, 2023

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga says he will next week name companies whose products and services Kenyans should boycott over their role in perpetuating electoral injustice.

Odinga, who spoke in Migori on Friday at the start of the planned countrywide mass action, said some of the companies are aligned with President Ruto’s administration and have been used to suppress the opposition.

“Our headquarters will next week issue directions on what products and services are to be boycotted. Some of these companies are being used badly by the government,” said Odinga.

Odinga stated that Kenyans have the opportunity to exercise their sovereignty directly as enshrined in the constitution after the Kenya Kwanza administration failed to respond to their demands.

“We had demanded three things that we wanted addressed within two weeks. They included bringing down the cost of living after withdrawal of the subsidies programme, electoral justice and the involvement of all stakeholders in the reconstitution of IEBC. These demands have not been responded to,” he added.

Insisting that his quest to liberate the nation is unstoppable, Odinga said the countrywide mass action will culminate in a mega demonstration in Nairobi on March 20th.

The ODM party leader urged Kenyans to support the planned mass action that will be spearheaded by the recently constituted Movement for Defense of Democracy (MDD).

The Migori rally came two days after the expiry of the 14-day ultimatum issued by the opposition coalition containing a raft of demands to the government.

Odinga was accompanied by several Azimio leaders among them Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
