John Wanjohi Apr 02, 2023

An autopsy has revealed the cause of death of US-based Kenyan couple Edward Morema Nyagechi and Grace Mong’ina Morema.

The postmortem conducted on the two bodies at Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital determined that Nyagechi was hit two times on his head with a blunt object and sustained three stab injuries on his ribs while his wife was strangled to death.

Nyagechi, 62, and Mong’ina, 60, were found dead inside their house at Nyamakoroto village, Kitutu Masaba, Nyamira County on the morning of March 21st.

The man was found lying dead near his garage with deep cuts on his head while his hands and legs were tied with binding wire. His wife’s body was later found in the bedroom with deep cuts around her neck and tied up in a similar manner to her husband.

The family, which is yet to commence burial plans, is demanding a speedy and thorough investigation to bring the culprits to book.

The assailants are said to have dismantled the CCTV DVR from the house before locking the house and leaving the scene of the crime.

Masaba North Sub-County police commander Robert Ndambiri said officers are still holding two workers in the homestead to help with investigations.

The slain couple had traveled to Kenya in December 2022 for a vacation before returning to the US as was their norm.

At the time of his death, Nyagechi was overseeing the construction of his rental apartments in Kakamega.
