Jalang'o Lands in Washington DC for Diaspora Investor Expo
Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o has landed in Washington DC ahead of the Diaspora Investor Expo.
Mr Odiwuor will feature in the event alongside other leaders of Kenya's Parliamentary Delegation including MPs Millie Akoth, Bedzimba Juma, Elijah Kanchory, and Justice Kipsang. The Diaspora Investor Expo comes after the country's diaspora inflow increased to a record-high of $4.027 billion in 2022. Jalang'o lauded the country's diaspora remittance for exceeding revenue from coffee, tea and horticulture.
In 2022, remittance from the US totalled 64% of $4.027 billion in diaspora inflows. President Ruto's government has set up a state department to address the concerns of Kenyans abroad. The Diaspora Investor Expo targets to reach thousands of Kenyans living in the Diaspora, opening international frontiers to Kenyan stakeholders.
Jalang'o has called on Kenyans in Washington DC to buy tickets for the expo in a tweet that read, "Kenyans in Washington DC join us or call the numbers on the poster for more details. The Diaspora remittance to the country hit a high of 400 billion last financial year and has surpassed any other foreign earnings for the country and of the 400B 64% is from the USA diaspora."
The MP has also dined with Kenya's content creators I am Marwa and Mutua 3, and also featured in their video.
