Narok Resident Allegedly Hacks Government System, Employs Himself as MP and Earns Salary
A 30-year-old resident from Narok County, Wycliffe Moenga, stirred headlines for allegedly hacking into government systems in a plot that saw him receive salary and allowances like a sitting Member of Parliament.
After gaining access to the system, the 30-year-old framed a deceitful constituency 'Ombogo South' under Nyamira County and designated himself as the MP. His scheme allowed him to receive a salary and other allowances.
The Maasai Mara University graduate has prompted an online debate on the security protocols safeguarding government and other institutions' websites. This occurrence follows the hacking of the Kabarak University Facebook page by an alleged Indonesian teenager.
The hacker demanded Sh68,000 to deliver the Facebook page to anyone who offered the amount, should the Institution fail to raise the sum. On Tuesday, the learning Institution reported that Facebook's Meta helped them recover the account from Cybersecurity criminals.
"Today l am pleased to announce that the university's highly qualified cyber security team and experts from Meta Inc worked tirelessly to recover our Facebook account. The recovery process was a success and has restored the university's online presence," the University statement read in part.
