Lawyer Cliff Ombeta Discloses How Mackenzie Duped Pastor Ezekiel in a Multi-Million Shilling Deal

Martin Olage May 13, 2023

Pastor Ezekiel Odero on Thursday, May 11, claimed that cult pastor Paul Mackenzie duped him in a multi-million shilling TV deal.

Lawyer Cliff Obeta defended Pastor Ezekiel of the New Life International Church in court proclaiming that Mackenzie deluded the preacher in a TV deal that saw him lose Sh500,000. In the deal, both parties had agreed on a cost of Sh 3 million for the TV Station. The commercial transaction began with Pastor Ezekiel depositing Sh500,000 to Mackenzie's account who responded by demanding more than the initially agreed sum.

Lawyer Cliff Ombeta mentioned that Mackenzie attempted to interfere with the terms of the sale, a move that saw the face value of the deal heighten to Sh 5 million.

"Pastor Ezekiel then went to Mackenzie and after discussions, he agreed to deposit Ksh500,000. However, Mackenzie later complicated the situation and asked for more than Ksh3 million which was initially agreed upon. Mackenzie then increased the cost of the transaction from Ksh3 million to Ksh5 million. In response, Pastor Ezekiel declined to continue with the transaction and told Mackenzie that he was no longer interested since he was going to get his own," Ombeta said.

On Friday, April 28, the prosecution told the Shanzu Court that the Mavueni-based preacher previously held business deals with Mackenzie. Among the business deals was the element of the TV channel that was allegedly used to radicalize followers.
