Ruto Continues to Reward Loyalists as he Names Wafula Chebukati's Wife CRA Chair
President William Ruto has named Mary Wanyonyi chair of the Commission on Revenue Allocation.
Wafula Chebukati's wife will take over from Jane Kiringai who retired after serving for six years. State House spokesperson confirmed the nomination of Chebukati's spouse, who managed to outperform three recommended persons including Thomas Ludindi Mwadeghu and Felicity Nkirote Biriri. Wanyonyi is an accomplished Accountant and a certified mediator.
"The Head of State has pursuant to Article 215 (2)(a) of the Constitution nominated CPA Mary A.Canyonyi for appointment as the Chairperson of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA)," State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said.
Wanyonyi has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and a Master's degree in Business Administration. Her impressive track record in the field of Accounting spans over three decades. She is currently the Senior Deputy Accountant General and Head of the Accounting Unit in the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development. Prior to her position at the Ministry, Wanyonyi served as a board member in State agencies including Kenyatta National Hospital.
Ruto's appointments appear to confirm Azimio leader Raila Odinga's claims that the head of state rewards loyalists. According to the opposition boss, the increase in the number of CAS and other state positions gave Ruto ample space to reward loyalists. From when he assumed office, Mr Ruto has bestowed plump state jobs to individuals who aided his campaigns.
