Ciku Muiruri's Daughter, Friend Rescued Alive After Days of Abduction
On Sunday, the daughter of radio legend Ciku Muiruri and her friend were rescued in a dramatic police operation.
The two, Erica Gachoka, 26, and Shanice Agose,27 were reported missing in Westlands, Nairobi, after they had taken a taxi home. The authorities rescued them from a house in Mangu, Waiteithie, along Thika Highway, and apprehended two suspects. They tracked them to Ngoigwa where one of the perpetrators was found with Erica's ID.
The individuals responsible for the abduction demanded Sh 500,000 ransom. The criminals led the police to the Mangu area where it was revealed that the women were held in a single room, which was ten kilometres away.
A request for a payment of Sh250,000 was delivered to Muiruri's brother last Monday, with a deadline of the close of business. A multi-agency team was sent out to the Mangu region to monitor the activities of the abductors and the victims over the past week. The kidnappers continually turned off and on their cell phones while making their requests. The inquiry team kept Muiruri's family updated on the investigation and engaged various parties they believed could be of assistance.
Details about the rescue mission were kept vague, however, those involved promised to provide more information. A distressed Muiruri reported that the abduction of her daughter Erica and her friend Shanice occurred Sunday, June 4. She posted about the situation on Facebook, seeking prayers for the missing girls.
