Let's Meet at Kamukunji on Tuesday, Azimio Tells Supporters
Azimio leader Raila Odinga has called his supporters to show up in large numbers for a consultation meeting next Tuesday to decide the next course of action in response to the approval of the controversial Finance Bill 2023.
The opposition proclaims that the passing of the Bill marks the beginning of an oppressive era of leadership that must be countered. At a press conference at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation on Thursday, Martha Karua said that Kenyans will never be helpless in deciding their destiny.
"We will have a consultation meeting with our supporters at Kamkunji grounds on Tuesday from 10 am. Let us come together next Tuesday and decide what kind of life we want to live," Karua said.
Karua stated that whenever Kenyans unite, they always find a suitable pathway to tackle the nation's most difficult issues. The Narc Kenya leader is confident they will also do the same this time.
"The only time we have suffered longer than we should; the only time we have allowed dictators to rule us longer than they should is when we have been divided. But people can never be helpless in their own country, against their own leaders. Not in a democracy like ours, not even in a dictatorship as they are trying to recreate," Karua added.
On Wednesday night, Members of Parliament passed the bill after it was fronted for a third reading by the National Assembly Finance and National Planning Committee chairman, Kuria Kimani. The bill now awaits President William Ruto's assent for the proposals to become law.
