God is Punishing You Through Ruto, Kitui MP Tells Locals

Martin Olage Jun 23, 2023

After the National Assembly passed the finance bill 2023, Members of Parliament from Kitui affiliated to Azimio coalition have asked Kenyans to brace for tougher times.

Speaking in the Nguutani market after attending a funeral service, Kitui MP Irene Kasalu termed the country's tribulation a punishment from God in response to the hardened hearts of Kenyans. Her words were reinforced by Kitui Rural MP Bonnie Mwalika who said Kenyans must brace themselves for tougher times.

Quoting the Bible, Kasalu added that God chose William Ruto as President due to the insensitive nature of the citizens. She conveyed that the opposition will fight for the rights of the people and that their work has now begun. The county MP called for national prayer, affirming that only the Almighty can salvage the country.

"The Bible says there can be a time when God looks and realizes you have a hard stance and He gifts you a bad person as a president. I think this is what the Lord has to Kenya. When Ruto was doing his campaigns, Kenyans said they want the wheelbarrow. Now you are reaping what they sow. What do you expect when you said you want the wheelbarrow?" She posed

Mwalika, on the other hand, reminded Kenyans to press on as the cost of living is likely to climb from July 1st. He further criticized the current government for its authoritarian approach.

On Thursday, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo regretted that the bill had passed despite the opposition faction having opposed it. He specified that they had objected to the 16 per cent on fuel and gas tax, as well as the housing tax. In a tweet, the politician declared that its time for history to take its course. Omollo is one of the MPs who failed to vote on the bill and defied the Orange Democratic Movement's demand for a show cause letter.
