Crimes of the Week: Kenyan Murdered in US Prison, Eric Maigo Update

Billy Chemirmir who was found guilty of two murders and suspected of killing approximately 24 more women was found dead in his Texas state prison cell on Tuesday.

Chemirmir was serving two life sentences without any possibility of parole at the Coffield Unit near Palestine in Tennessee Colony when he was attacked.
His cellmate, who has not been named, was identified as the assailant according to officials with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. However, It remains unclear how Chemirmir died.

Police are seeking information about a woman who is believed to have played a role in the death of Eric Maigo, the finance director of Nairobi Hospital. Maigo was killed at his home in Nairobi's Woodley neighbourhood in the early hours of September 15, 2023. Detectives are asking for any leads on the woman whose image was captured fleeing the crime scene. She is suspected of being involved in the murder and escaping through the back door.

In a separate incident, a 27-year-old woman was fatally shot while attempting to intervene in a fight between two brothers in Kibish, Turkana County. One of the brothers retrieved a rifle, illegally possessed, to use against the other.

In Mandera, police are investigating the abduction of a 20-year-old man by gunmen who raided a village in Lafey. The gang consisting of 20 individuals carrying rifles robbed Abdirahman Khalif in the Jihin area on September 19, in the middle of the day. They also stole over 200 goats.

A violent clash between rival clans led to the fatal shooting of at least three men in Bambo West village located in Mandera County. The Mandera North incident, which occurred on Sunday morning, resulted in the destruction of a considerable number of homes. The police announced that Omar Abdi Mohamed, Gedi Abdi Qaley, and Hassan Osman Mohamed were murdered at point-blank range.
