Former Kenyan presidential candidate Quincy Timberlake has received an 11-year jail sentence for the tragic death of his three-year-old son.

The incident occurred in 2014 in Brisbane, Australia, where Quincy was accused of causing the death. While initially facing a murder charge, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter. During the court proceedings, Quincy's defence team argued for a more lenient sentence, suggesting deportation or detention after his visa was denied. the plea was denied by Supreme Court Justice Paul Freeburn. His outright rejection conveyed an understanding of the solemnity surrounding the case.

Consequently, he sentenced Quincy to 11 years in prison. Justice Freeburn acknowledged Quincy's extended pre-trial custody, reducing the sentence to two years. Recounting the events of that fateful night, Justice Freeburn highlighted how Quincy's ex-wife Esther Arunga Esther Arunga heard a commotion inside their residence and discovered their child lying unconscious at the foot of the stairway that fateful night.

In the house, Arunga heard loud thuds that startled her enough to leave the bathroom immediately. Much to her shock, she witnessed her husband striking their son forcefully in the stomach. Crown prosecutor Clayton Wallace provided various explanations for Quincy's actions, including the assertion that he was attempting to rid his son of evil. Quincy, on the other hand, defended himself by informing the emergency response team that his son had fallen down the stairs and must have stepped on his back after the fall.
