How Fake Weight Loss Doctors Conned Nairobi Woman of Sh140,000

Susan Francis and Mwangi Waweru have been accused of deceiving Judith Mawia Munyoki by promising to assist her in losing weight in exchange for money.

They have been charged in court for their alleged actions, which took place between August 18-24. Their ploy was to provide Munyoki with an injection for compulsory weight loss purposes, but as it turned out, it was only an elaborate deception. Munyoki was introduced to Mwangi by a friend who had vouched for his efficacy in aiding other women to realize their ideal body shape. Pursuing the offer, Munyoki handed Mwangi the agreed-upon amount in three separate instalments as suggested.

Days later, Munyoki found herself at a guest house in Rongai, where she met two men, including Waweru, who introduced himself as a specialized doctor. Munyoki became suspicious and questioned the purpose of the guest house. The duo responded, saying that the clinic was currently in use and the corresponding surgery needed to guarantee the utmost confidentiality. Later, they instructed Munyoki to lay flat while tending to sanitize and massage Munyoki's stomach with methylated spirit before leaving momentarily, claiming that the alleged doctor had gone to retrieve some necessary items for the operation.

The complainant felt deceived after spending three hours alone in the room. She took the matter to the Embakasi Police Station, where she filed a report. The accused individuals refuted the allegations, and they were released on a cash bail of Sh70,000 each. The case is set to be heard on March 27, 2024.
