Ex-Mungiki Leader Maina Njenga Trolls Gachagua for Missing King Charles' State House Event

Martin Olage Nov 02, 2023

Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has raised concerns about Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's absence from the country during King Charles III's visit.

Questioning the rationale behind Gachagua's absence, Njenga claims that the purpose behind it was to avoid any mention of sensitive information. According to Njenga, Gachagua's travel abroad prevented him from asking crucial questions on the topic of the Mau Mau. Speculations surrounding President William Ruto's intention to distance his deputy from the royal family have surfaced since Gachagua's recent trip to Europe.

With the inclusion of Raila Odinga and Azimio figures, uncertainty and speculation on political affairs have heightened. Additionally, Njenga says Raila's attendance stemmed from an accord with Ruto, citing an anecdote from Amos in the Bible. He emphasizes that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, despite his role, does not hold the title of Mt. Kenya's kingpin. Rather, he serves as the Deputy President of Kenya alongside William Ruto.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife among Kenyans after Opposition leader Raila Odinga attended a State House event alongside National Assembly's Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi on Tuesday. The event, a state banquet in honour of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, saw Raila engage in conversation with President William Ruto's security adviser Monica Juma. Later, he was seen exchanging pleasantries with cabinet secretaries and posing for photos. It is worth noting that Raila maintains his stance that he won the 2022 presidential election and refuses to recognize Ruto as the president.
