Diaspora Kenyans Encouraged to Share Feedback as Mudavadi Embraces Constructive Criticism
Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has reassured the Diaspora community that the Kenya Kwanza government will always be available to engage with them, listen to their constructive criticism, and take action on their feedback to enhance Kenya as a desirable home.
At a banquet marking the culmination of Nairobi's 3-Day Diaspora Investment Conference on Friday, Mudavadi spoke of the Kenyan government's focus on open and honest conversations among citizens. Moreover, Mudavadi acknowledged the key role played by Kenya's Diaspora and other stakeholders in fostering national development. He said that by partnering and communicating fully with one another, these parties combine their range of abilities, aptitudes and wide-reaching worldly experiences for the greater good.
Echoing President William Ruto's sentiments concerning digitalization and exports, Mudavadi noted that the talks are a pivotal undertaking aimed at kicking off strategic engagements that are congruent with the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Action Plan. Mudavadi noted that the thematic sessions have generated innovative opinions, resulting in an environment that empowers the Diaspora community to take advantage of breakthrough investment prospects. The Prime CS urged the diaspora community to leverage their connections to foster socio-economic development in different countries.
Musalia Mudavadi pointed out that the diaspora contribution to Kenya's development process is in accord with the administration's agenda to improve the well-being of many Kenyans, especially people residing in remote areas. Speaking of bilateral ties, Mudavadi highlighted that December 1963 saw an essential milestone in the officially contracted relationship between China and Kenya which has had positive effects for both engaged countries. He highlighted the extensive impact that six decades of Kenya-China collaboration have had on various aspects of the East African nation, such as trade, infrastructure development, and cultural and academic exchanges.
Mudavadi highlighted how Kenya has greatly benefited from the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) proposed by China. This initiative has brought about modern infrastructure projects such as the Thika Superhighway, the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) spanning 472 kilometres, the Nairobi Expressway measuring 27.1 kilometres, and several ring roads in the capital. During the third Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, President Ruto, along with other African leaders, engaged in fruitful discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Mudavadi shared that the two leaders agreed to further enhance cooperation in the fields of digital economy and clean energy.
