UDA Lawmakers Rally Behind Ndindi Nyoro as Ruto's Deputy in 2027

Martin Olage Jan 14, 2024

A gathering of leaders from Murang’a has given their approval for Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro to be the deputy to President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 general election.

Senator Joe Nyutu and MP Edward Muriu, along with other leaders, are concerned that Rigathi Gachagua's presence as Ruto's deputy may harm Ruto's chances of being re-elected. Senator Nyutu emphasizes the importance of Murang'a's representation in national politics and expresses a preference for Ndindi Nyoro over Gachagua. It is believed that Gachagua holds unfavourable opinions about the residents of Murang'a, and Nyutu believes that his divisive behaviour could negatively affect Ruto's prospects in the region.

"We will request Ruto to select a young individual from Murang'a, particularly Ndindi Nyoro. Gachagua has diminished his influence by disrespecting people, including elected leaders." Says Nyuta.

Highlighting the significance of fairness, Nyutu strongly advocates for an unbiased selection procedure for the upcoming 2027 election, devoid of any preferential treatment towards individuals. Gatanga MP Edward Muriu additionally emphasizes the importance of recognizing the invaluable contributions made by the mothers of Murang'a and endorses the choice of a youthful candidate such as Ndindi Nyoro. Muriu stresses that the women of Murang'a also give birth to capable leaders, such as Ndindi Nyoro, who is qualified to be a deputy to Ruto and a leader in his own right.

Many leaders are backing Ndindi as a potential candidate for the position. During a recent memorial service, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria echoed this sentiment and urged Mount Kenya leaders to guide and mentor young leaders like Ndindi Nyoro instead of opposing them politically. Kuria highlights the importance of supporting the young leaders in the region, including Ndindi Nyoro, rather than engaging in political fights against them. Ndindi Nyoro, a dedicated follower of President William Ruto, has frequently been named as a prospective participant in the 2032 presidential election.
