For one Kenyan resident, Bob Mwiti, pursuing a coveted US visa spanned several years, reflecting a journey marked by resilience. Initiating his attempts in 2001, Mwiti encountered a series of visa denials before achieving success in 2009. His tenacity, despite the setbacks, is noteworthy, as he continued to pursue his goal, undeterred by the financial implications of the high US visa application fees.

Mwiti, now the founder of the Kenya Airlift Program, facilitates the aspirations of fellow Kenyans seeking advanced education in the US. Drawing from his extensive experience, he emphasizes the comparative ease of obtaining US study visas when juxtaposed with the processes involved in securing visas for Canada and the UK. Expressing his views on the matter, Mwiti underscores the accommodating nature of US immigration laws, contrasting them favourably against the recent constraints imposed by Canada on the issuance of student visas.

The cap set by Canada, reducing approvals by over 30 per cent globally, adds a layer of complexity for international students. Mwiti's quest for alternative destinations for The Kenya Airlift Program led him to assess the challenges associated with obtaining student visas in Canada. In his assessment, he finds fault in systems that rely solely on document-based adjudication, a practice prevalent in Canada and the UK.
