KDF Receives Sh223 Million Worth of Military Gear from the US
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has received a generous donation of cutting-edge military protective gear valued at over Sh220 million from the United States government.
This aid is intended to tackle the growing security issues that Kenya is confronting. The US military's Africa Command (AFRICOM) emphasizes that this contribution is evidence of the strong connection between the two countries. The donation, consisting of protective body armour, helmets, and ballistic plates will significantly improve the security and efficiency of the armed forces. Additionally, it will strengthen their defensive capabilities while participating in peacekeeping operations.
Major General Juma Mwinyika, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Eastern Command, has expressed his sincere appreciation for this kind gesture from the US government. He emphasizes the significance of this partnership and the support received from the United States at both the strategic and operational levels. Major General Kenneth Ekman from the US has also expressed his gratitude.
"We take great pride in granting our partners in the Kenya Defence Forces with the necessary protective equipment. This act of generosity reflects the United States' dedication to supporting the security endeavours of our global allies and fostering a world that is free, open, and stable," he says.
He reiterates that the United States is steadfast in its dedication to working together with Kenya to promote the security, prosperity, and well-being of its people.
