A group of 11 officers successfully apprehended wanted criminal Kevin Kangethe in Ngong on Tuesday night.

The apprehension occurred close to the Ngong Police Station, shortly after 10 pm. The higher-ranking officials at the station were informed by the public about the whereabouts of the individual in question. Utilizing this knowledge, they formulated a strategy to ensnare Kangethe, assembling a group of 11 officers from the station. Their meticulously planned surprise resulted in the capture of the fugitive before he could strategize any additional actions. Kangethe, who had previously eluded authorities at the Muthaiga Police Station on February 7, 2024, is presently under custody in Ngong.

He is anticipated to be extradited to the United States to confront murder allegations. Later today, he will be taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for additional procedures. Kangethe fled to Kenya after allegedly killing her girlfriend Margaret Mbitu who was found dead at Logan Airport. Moreover, he aggravated his predicament by evading authorities at Muthaiga Police Station with the assistance of someone posing as his lawyer. Immediately after his getaway, he dashed towards Thika Road while being chased by police officers.

Their attempts to locate him were in vain. Later on, phone records disclosed that he was in Machakos County. However, the investigators assigned to the case encountered difficulties when it came to arresting him. It is worth mentioning that he was arrested the day after his brother and girlfriend were apprehended. The lawyer who allegedly helped him escape is currently in custody. Meanwhile, four officers are facing repercussions for their role in Kangethe's escape from Muthaiga Police Station.
