Biden Invites Ruto to White House. Visit to Mark New Era in Kenya-US Partnership

President William Ruto has an official State visit lined up in Washington, US, on May 23, 2024, during which President Joe Biden will host him.

In a tweet, Ruto affirms that the upcoming visit will honour the 60-year partnership between the United States and Kenya. He conveys gratitude on behalf of the Kenyan people and government while also acknowledging the occasion as a chance to celebrate the beginning of Kenya's independence. He shares his enthusiasm for the upcoming meeting and notes that he and President Biden plan to engage on topics that are mutually beneficial for both nations.

Kenya views the state visit as a crucial chance to demonstrate a fresh era of robust partnership, intending to improve trade and investment while backing green energy, digitization, and improving human welfare, peace and security. Ultimately, they aspire to foster global synergy for the benefit of Kenya, Africa and the Global South. President Ruto is looking forward to engaging in a wide range of topics with President Biden.

Various areas will be discussed, including economics, politics, and diplomacy. Moreover, both Presidents share key values that guide their governments and efforts towards achieving mutual alignment and cooperation. Ruto has commented on the upcoming State Visit in May in light of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre's announcement. President Biden and First Lady Jill will be hosting Ruto and First Lady Rachel during this visit. Jean-Pierre emphasized that the purpose of the visit is to strengthen the commitment to peace and security, foster economic connections, and unite in safeguarding democratic principles.

“Kenya views the State visit as a high profile opportunity to articulate a new era of dynamic partnership aimed at transforming trade and investment, green energy and climate action, digital technology and innovation, health and human development, peace and security as well as multilateralism and collective action to deliver shared prosperity for Kenya, Africa, the Global South and the entire world,” reads Ruto's message on his X account.
