Man Kills Wife and Commits Suicide, Social Media Posts Details Threats and Betrayal
A tragic incident is reported in Nyeri County, Kenya, where a man allegedly murdered his wife before taking his own life.
The suspect Evans Kosgei is believed to have killed Jackline Kimaiyo, a teacher in Mathira East Sub-county, before fleeing the scene. The investigation centers on social media posts made by Kosgei on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. These posts, made a month prior to the murders, detail threats directed at Ms Kimaiyo. In one particularly concerning message, Kosgei tagged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), expressing his intent to harm his wife. The post reportedly detailed a sense of betrayal after nine years of trust and affection in his spouse.
Kosgei also claimed in these social media posts that he had sold all his possessions to support Ms Kimaiyo who was a student of education at Murang'a University. News reports initially indicated that Kosgei later committed suicide in Thika. However, Kiambu County Police Chief Michael Muchiri clarified that investigations are ongoing to identify the deceased individual in Thika definitively.
Meanwhile, the DCI in Nyeri has summoned Shadrack, a man allegedly named by Kosgei as having an extramarital affair with Ms Kimaiyo. Shadrack, currently residing in Nairobi, has expressed confusion regarding his connection to the case. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into this tragic incident.
