PS Roseline Njogu Urges Kenyans in the Diaspora to Join Associations
Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Ms Roseline Njogu has urged Kenyans abroad to actively participate in groups and associations.
Highlighting the power of collective action, Ms. Njogu framed these groups as platforms for personal and communal growth, stability, and investment. She emphasised that membership in such groups fosters individual well-being. Also, she noted that the strength in numbers provides a sense of security and bolsters investment capabilities. Speaking at a diaspora engagement forum in Bangkok, Thailand, Ms Njogu addressed the challenges faced by Kenyans abroad.
She positioned these groups as valuable resources that cultivate a sense of belonging and solidarity, aiding in navigating foreign environments. Furthermore, the Principal Secretary stressed the importance of leveraging these networks to create and capitalize on investment opportunities. This financial empowerment, she argued, would significantly benefit the Kenyan diaspora community. Ms Njogu's address, delivered alongside Kenyan embassy staff led by Ambassador Kipines Lindsay and representatives from the Diaspora Directorate, highlighted the Kenyan government's unwavering commitment to its diaspora population.
This commitment translates to continued engagement, collaboration, and initiatives aimed at ensuring the well-being, prosperity, safety, and empowerment of Kenyans residing abroad. Meanwhile, the Kenyan government has intensified its efforts to engage with its diaspora population, urging Kenyans living abroad to increase their investments in the country and explore opportunities to create employment for their compatriots back home. This call to action was delivered by Ann Wanjohi, the Director of the Liaison & Partnerships Division at the State Department of Diaspora Affairs, during a recent Diaspora Forum and cultural event held in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
